LA, Car Loans, and Politics
Hello friends and fans,
I have been busy this month, so busy in fact I forgot to write up something for Oracle. I made a trip to LA for work and for social reasons. I did the Chelsea Lately show live on air and taped something for the release of The Midnight Special dvd releases. I also had a visit with some god-sons and a few friends.
I have also had to deal with a very upsetting but more and more common event which happens to more and more of us today, Identity theft. Yes someone is trying to take out a car loan in my name. I once had someone buy a lot of lingerie in my name which I found kind of sexy but a car loan........well I like cars but it's kind of butch. Anyway, these car loan people from the internet keep calling me about my car loan application and I just keep saying no, I haven't applied for a loan.
What would be really sexy would be if you just went out and stole a car and left me out of it. So all you assholes sitting in your little rooms thinking no one can see you doing what you do, there really are ways to track you down. You are not invisible.
Anyway, I haven't gotten to all the slow mail yet but I see a few novels from Trevor that look kinky and I will get to the rest ASAP. You may have noticed that BLONDIE is touring again this summer and Chris and I are working on a few new additions for the shows, along with setting up the crew and working on a new stage design with Hans. It really has been a busy month.
Me and many of my friends are deeply worried about the on-going political situation in the US. As a touring musician, I am acutely aware of the image of Americans around the world. Personally, I don't feel the need to steal another country's mineral wealth. War is a no-no for me. I do know how to shoot a gun, but would hate to blow someone's head off. Middle Eastern Tribal disagreements that are thousands of years old really aren't on the top of my list. Global Warming, Health Care, Constitutionality, and Ecology in general are my special areas of interest. Any candidate who can improve the US Government’s systems to help the people spend their own tax money on improving their own lives will get my vote. Not some war mongering MF.

Post-Super Tuesday Thoughts...
It’s Wednesday, the day after the Super Tuesday Primary election for the next president. There are still a few more states to have their elections and the race is really on now, especially for the Democrats.
It’s extremely interesting that a woman and a half-black man are actually running for this office. Have times changed this much, and if they have, we are making progress. Politics aside, this is a major sociological break-through. Change is a wonderful thing most of the time and most of us will be paying attention to the on going campaign and the outcome, and perhaps even the end of the illegal invasion of Iraq.
Now to all of you who have written, thanks for your continued interest in me and my solo CD and of course, your love-u-long-time affection for Blondie. In particular thanks to some of my fans:
Andrew Westgarth for your letter, Cumbria, UK
Mandy Rohr for the really beautiful photos of your artwork
Carolyn Cesario can cover any of the Blondie or Debbie songs live at any time. Recording any of these songs involves publishing payments and using the original material would need record company permission.
Susan Bradford thanks for the great letter, I always have a beautiful time in Ashville.
Pieter Greeff in South Africa can get NECESSARY EVIL online. Nice to know you’re interested.
Kiah Conroy one of the young-ones, eight years old, Cambridge, UK
Hi Mandy and Salem, loved the doggy footprints and the card. You both are as beautiful as ever.
Thanks for the caricature, Marshall in Toronto.
And last but not least, Amy in San Francisco, the Fuckin Book, very funny.
As you can see, I have finally gotten to answer some of my mail. Cause I do this myself, it takes me quite a while to respond to everyone. There are some pics in the mail as per requests and also returning things sent to me for signing. I hope everything arrives in tact to you all.
I’m back writing more songs now since I’m not touring and I love it. Got three new ones with Super Buddha and looking forward to working with Chris Stein next week. He says he’s got some great ideas and I believe him.
I do have a request to make of any of you who write asking for signed photos. I will only answer these requests if you have enclosed an SAE (stamped, addressed, envelope). It just takes too long to sort through letters without return envelopes. Thanks.
BlondieBoy, Staces Schrat, Tony Leone, Mike Becker, Christina Maruhn, thanks for the good wishes and support.
Lots of love to you all, especially since it’s coming up Valentines Day and I’m the girl with the heart shaped lips,
xx Debbie

Happy New Year!
Oracle of Wifi January 8, 2008
It's the New Year. I always have such mixed feelings about this event. After all there are several different new years around the world and one can pick any day to turn a new leaf or page or whatever you want to call it. So for anyone who has decided to flip it just now, good luck. Changing behavior is the most difficult thing to do, not like putting on a clean pair of panties or socks, but constant thoughtfulness, obsession if you will, is required. As for the rest of us, OCD'ers included, lets dance into the year numbered 2008.
As for me personally, I'm just watching the progress of all the presidential campaigns and hoping that the stupidity of the last administration can be overcome as quickly as possible. Politics is after all a big chess game so that makes it sort of interesting, but don't you want to know what's really being traded? I do, it makes it much more interesting....
Right now my little independent label is planning to release IF I HAD YOU as my next single. Again I want to thank all of you who supported my attempt at a solo project. It felt so fucking good to do the tour and the CD, and anyone who came out to a show is really an angel. I plan to keep on writing new material and have about three or four new ideas for songs bubbling in my
brain. A good feeling bubbles. I wanted to tour in Europe and the UK with my new stuff but there doesn't seem to be any interest from the promoters, sigh.
I'm cleaning out my closets, having a social life, and writing new stuff. That about covers what I wanted to say to you all, and yes it's really me writing this shit.
Xx Debbie
